Henry Zerrusen Dies at Age 81

Henry B. Zerrusen, 81, of Teutopolis, died at his home at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 1977.

He was born on Feb. 20, 1896 in Teutopolis Township, the son of Anton and Angela Schroeder Zerrusen.

He married Emma Swingler on Nov. 14, 1922. She died on March 23, 1946. He married Clara Wente Thoele on Dec. 27, 1948.

Survivors are his wife; daughters, Junavere Zerrusen and Mrs. George (Jeanette) Westendorf, both of Teutopolis; Mrs. Ed (Betty Ann) Schmidlin of Lafayette, Ind.;

Sons, Norbert and Gerald, of Teutopolis; sister, Mrs. Henry (Mayme) Deters of Teutopolis; brother, Ferd of Teutopolis, 34 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.

A daughter, Mrs. Loretta Wolski, preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, a sister, one grandchild, and one great grandchild.

Mr. Zerrusen was a retired farmer and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society.

Services were held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Church, Teutopolis. Father Irenaeus officiated at the Requiem Mass. Burial was in St. Francis cemetery, Teutopolis.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Tom and Dan Wolski, Steve Zerrusen, Brian Westendorf, Larry Schmidlin, and Ron Zerrusen.

Among those attending the services from a distance were Ben Wolski, son Tom and daughters Rosemary and Mary, of Lemont, Illinois, Dan Wolski of Kankakee, Ill., Bill Wolski of Pebbles Creek, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schmidlin and family of Lafayette, Indiana, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Turnbull of Springfield.
