OLD RESIDENT DIED TO HIS ETERNAL REWARD BY DEATH ANGEL Mr. Henry Schoenhoff Sr., Passed Away Peacefully At His Residence Tuesday Evening John Henry Schoenhoff died peacefully and well prepared at his home in the village of Teutopolis Tuesday evening at 10:15 o'clock, Sept. 16th, 1924, in the presence of the family. Funeral services will be held at St. Francis church Friday morning at 9 o'clock, followed by interment in the parish cemetery. Mr. Schoenhoff was born March 20, 1846 at Cincinnati, O., being the son of Christian Schoenhoff and Maria Anna Kammann. The family moved to Teutopolis when he was three years old and settled in St. Francis township on the 80 acres now owned by Anton Deters, located about three miles and a half east of Teutopolis. He attended the schools of the village, which in those early days was tedious and very unpleasant on account of the distance and bad roads to travel. In his younger days he learned the cobbler's trade which he followed for several years. When grownup to manhood he married Miss Philomena Joergen (Jurgens) July 31st, 1877. Late Rev. Fr. Damasus Ruesing, O. F. M., performed the ceremony. This union was blessed with nine children: Mary (Mrs. Alf Hakman), Henry, Ben, Edward died at the age of six months, Louise (Mrs. Allen Vance), Joseph, Ferd, Leo and Albert, who, with Mrs. Schoenhoff, twenty grandchildren and one great-grand-daughter survive him and regret his demise. Besides these he leaves one brother (Barney Schoenhoff of here), and one sister, (Mrs. Barney Pruemer Sr., of St. Francis.) Mr. Schoenhoff's age was 78 years, 5 months and 26 days. May his soul rest in peace. THE PRESS extends hearty condolence and sympathy to the bereaved family. |
