MRS. ELIZ. PRUEMER
PASSED AWAY THURSDAY FEBRUARY 21
She Was the Oldest Resident of this Community, Funeral Services Sunday Morning.
Mrs. Elizabeth Pruemer passed away at the home of her son, County Treasurer Wm. G. Pruemer, southeast of Teutopolis Thursday. She had attained the ripe old age of 93 years, 10 months and 16 days. Her maiden name was Schoenhoff and she was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She came with her parents to St. Francis township when she was seven years of age. She was united in marriage to Barney Pruemer on Nov. 21, 1870, in St. Francis church, Teutopolis, by Rev. Father Mathias Hilterman, O. F. M., and had resided on the same farm ever since. Her husband preceded her to the grave some years ago, since which time she made her home with her son, County Treasurer Wm. G. Pruemer. She has been an invalid for the past seven years. Seven years ago she met with an accident in which she broke her hip from which she never fully recovered. About two years ago she became totally blind and has been bedfast for some time. Her old age was made as comfortable as possible by the loving care of her son and granddaughters.
The deceased was the mother of six children, two sons Wm. G. and John, and Mrs. Anton Deters, living; Mrs. Frank (Catherine) Hoelscher, Mrs. Ben (Anna) Westendorf and Mrs. Herman (Mary) Westendorf, deceased. Twenty grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive her.
The funeral rites were held Sunday morning at 9 o'clock. A Requiem High Mass was sung by Rev. Father Cyrinus and interment was in the local Catholic cemetery.
Among those from a distance who attended the funeral of Grandma Elizabeth Pruemer Sunday were: Mr. and Mrs. Ben Deters, County Judge of Clinton County, of Carlyle; Mr. and Mrs. Alph Westendorf, Law. Probst, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Westendorf all of Dieterich; Mrs. Elizabeth Mongeoule and daughter, Geraldine, of Chicago; Misses Emma Deters and Emma Westendorf, of Winnetka, Ill.; George Bauer, Sr., Clarence Stockman, John Thies and daughter Miss Margaret, Wm. Ryan and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Herboth and children, all of Effingham; Ray Stroud and Chas. Moore of Altamont; Asal Ryan of Beecher City; Arthur Flach and family of Montrose.
