Herman G. Westendorf Well-Known Farmer of Bishop, Dies Tuesday

Herman G. Westendorf, 80, a well known farmer of the Bishop community died Tuesday night in St. Anthony Memorial hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks.

Mr. Westendorf was born on April 17, 1875. He was a member of St. Aloysius church, and of the St. Joseph's Men's Sodality.

He leaves his wife, Katherine, three sons, Alf of Dieterich, Ferd at home, and Vincent of Effingham; five daughters, Mrs. Melvin Canty of San Orando, Calif., Mrs. Lawrence Probst of Dieterich, Mrs. Bernard Krone and Mrs. George Bergfeld, both of Teutopolis and Mrs. Richard Bergfeld of Effingham; a sister, Mrs. Mary Wernsing of Teutopolis; one brother, Ben of Bishop, and 26 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were three brothers, Henry, John and Bill and sisters, Mrs. Minnie Esker and Jane Hartke.

The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bauer funeral home in Effingham by the St. Joseph's Men's Sodality of Bishop and again at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Aloysius church, Bishop. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
