Anthony Zerrusen Dies Suddenly

Anthony Zerrusen, St. Francis township farmer and life-long resident of that community, died suddenly at his home Friday morning, Novmeber 8. He was 77 years of age. Mr. Zerrusen's death was unexpected, however he was receiving medical attention.

He was born May 1, 1886 in St. Francis township, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anton Zerrusen. He married Lena Worman on May 18, 1915. Mr. Zerrusen was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Francis church.

Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Leonard and Ralph at home, Richard of Teutopolis, and one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Emma) Deters of Lillyville, brothers, Ferd and Henry of Teutopolis and sisters, Mrs. Frank Herboth of Effingham and Mrs. Henry Deters of Teutopolis, also seven grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a son, Raymond, who died in 1942 while serving with the U. S. Army in World War II, a grandson, Norbert Deters, and one brother, Joseph Zerrusen who died in January of 1963.

The body lay in state at the Habing Funeral Home in Teutopolis where the rosary was recited Saturday and Sunday evening. A solemn requiem was held at St. Francis church, Teutopolis at 9 a.m. Monday. Rev. Adrian Fischer, OFM, was the celebrant, Rev. Basil Johnson, OFM, was deacon, and Rev. Novatus Ewert, OFM, was subdeacon. Burial was in St. Francis cemetery. Pallbearers were Bernard Deters, Sylvester Zerrusen, Delbert Haskenherm, Erban Hartke, John Fearday and John Ordner.
