Andrew J. Carlson, died Aug. 5, 1910, born in East Gothland, Sweden, Aug. 10, 1867. With his parents he came to America in 1885, living in and about Marengo, Ill. until him marriage in 1894 to Miss Minnie Johnson and their removal to his farm six miles north of LeRoy. Two children were born, Verna, now aged 16 and Rhoda, Aged 12. After the death of his wife, July 5, 1902, he took his two little girls to his sister, Mrs. John Peterson at Marengo. The father rented his farm and secured work as foreman of a construction gang. Mr. Carlson came to his brother, Charles, home for a visit and rest after his wife's death. Tues. when the noon meal was ready, they called Andrew, who had gone upstairs, there was no reply, his brother ran upstairs to see what was wrong. He found him lying in a pool of blood, his face unrecognisable and the gun with which the injury had been made when he was a boy. He was a member of the State Church of Sweded Lutheran, since coming to the States he attended the N.E. Church. Burial Oak Grove Cemetery. |
