Death of Mrs. Mike Katz In the death of Mrs. Mike Katz, Wednesday, July 26, the community lost a good Christian women, and the family a devoted mother. Mrs. Katz was held in high esteem by all who knew her for her many fine qualities. She had the faculty of making friends of all with whom she came in contact and her generous nature held all such friendships. Josephine Hutmacher was born in Germany, near Toehlen, on May 15, 1854. She came to this country when she was seven years of age came direct to this county. After the death of her parents she went to DuQuoin and was married there to John Anheuser. To the union one son was born and he died some 10 years ago. Her husband died in 1878 and in 1880 she was united in marriage to Michael Katz. They were blessed with eight children, five of whom are living, namely: Frank, Pete, Louis and William at home and Mrs. Mart Nosbisch. The husband also survives. Mrs. Katz became ill about 15 months ago and since last November she has been bedfast almost all the time. Her ailment was dropsy. The interment took place Friday morning from the Catholic church and the remains were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of sorrowing friends. |
